Position: Program Support & Community Specialist VISTA


The VISTA will increase OCCHA's capacity to deliver high-quality programs that addresses poverty and meets community needs, strengthen partnerships, and expand resources. Their work will directly enhance program effectiveness, sustainability, and community engagement. Specific responsibilities include evaluating all OCCHA programs for alignment with community priorities, identifying areas for improvement, and updating workflows and guidelines as needed. The VISTA will assist in identifying and pursuing funding opportunities to sustain and grow programs, while also supporting marketing and outreach efforts to boost engagement. Additionally, they will help develop partnerships with organizations and stakeholders to enhance program quality and reach, strengthen existing initiatives, and assist in creating new programs that respond to evolving community needs.

Position Title: Family Service Specialist
Supervisor/Reports To: Executive Director 
Type of Employment: Part-time 28 hrs. week 
Rate per Hour: $15.00 to $17.00
Position Summary:  The Family Services Specialist will be responsible for OCCHA’s Family Social Service Program and assist clients in obtaining appropriate services. Must be bilingual and have adequate speaking skills, good office etiquette and the ability to relate and communicate well with staff and the public. The individual must exercise confidentiality of agency business. 
 
Major Accountabilities: 
Support the mission and goals of the organization across all departments. 
Read, familiarize, and implement OCCHA’s guidelines and policies. 
Complete necessary intake forms with clients who are seeking assistance with food, clothing and refer client to other partner agencies. Distribute food to clients and assist in clothing room. 
Assess clients' needs and make refer to other partnering agencies for appropriate services such as behavioral health referrals, housing, job and family services, social security, etc. 
Provide technical assistance to clients such as phone calls, assisting with applications, assisting with job search. 
Maintain open communication with partnering agencies and knowledge of offered programs.  
Works with intake clerk to complete intake and client services report. 
Works with program coordinator to promote and recruit clients to community outreach events which include health fairs/workshops, educational fairs, and OCCHA community events. 
Refers clients seeking behavioral health to Community/Health Liaison. Works with Community Health Liaison to promote the Mental Health Navigator program.  Document and maintain client statistical records and reports. 
Maintain record of client participation in OCCHA program/community events. 
Performs clerical duties; (Data, typing, copying and filing). 
Represent the organization positively, dress appropriately in public as a professional representative.  
Performs other duties as requested and assigned by the Executive Director.

Skills and Qualifications: 
Must be a high school graduate or possess a GED.  
Social work background preferred but not necessary. Equivalent Work Experience necessary.  
Must be bilingual in English and Spanish.  
Must have a background check BCI/FBI camp code and   
Good oral and written communication skills. Must be organized with attention to detail and follow-through while managing multiple tasks. 
Working knowledge of Microsoft office products; (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher), typing, and filing skills. 
Ability to work well with partners, youth and their families. 
Must have a car, driver’s license and proof of insurance
